Soup Day

There is something so nice about being at home, even if I am glued to the computer working on my project (most of the time).

It is really fallish out and the weather is now biting in the morning, the not-so-friendly temperatures ever dipping lower. The sun sets at 6:30, I have on several layers, and the smell of the wood stove burning hot makes everything better.

Yesterday I accidentally stabbed my biology teacher with a scalpel, much to my horror. I made her pumpkin muffins, so hopefully all is forgiven.

Today my CSA pick up was a delicious reminder that there is a beautiful plan in place. My items were as follows: Roma tomatoes, two mini eggplants, a daikon radish, one small cabbage, one even smaller onion, kale, something unknown, spaghetti squash, and a bag of green peppers. What do you see amidst all these ingredients? Cabbage soup of course! Here is the beauty part: The earth gives us these foods during this particular season and these foods are the perfect foods for fighting off the colds and sniffles that are the unfortunate hallmark of said season. Even diakon radish, which is a little bitter for my liking, is nourishing and perfectly hidden in my soup.
It makes me very happy.
