Looming Disaster

So, as is usually the case with a high school musical, the first full run through of the performance was an unmitigated disaster. Long awkward pauses with no music to play, Maria running on stage, late to her own wedding, the captain left hanging, waiting for the voices of his own children, half of whom went to change costumes when they weren't supposed to. A total of 4 hours of tragedy that will put fear in the hearts of the performers to learn their cues, how to change costume in less than 4 seconds, and to pick up that wayward bench that is continually left lurking in stage right. Ah, the glory of the musical!

I have come to the fearful conclusion that I need an attitude re-adjustment. I have realized that most of my humor comes from the mocking of others and no matter how good-humored, satirical, or funny, it's not right. It's like using only sugar as your method of making food taste good; it gets old fast, has no real value, and is cheating. That being said, my co-worker is bidding on mermaid and faerie mummies on e-bay. No comment.
