i am feeling bloggish.

word of warning: never get between a Yuppie and their coffee. bad things happen. very bad things.

so its amazing how you have mini-moments with people. sometimes, not often, but sometimes, in the time it takes me to find a customers book and give it to them, a connection is formed between me and the person i am helping. for me, these moments generally happen with old women, as it seems i have the same tastes and preferences as women of 60+ years. A few days ago i met a woman looking for a nat king cole cd (i love nat) and so as we headed over to the easy listening section, i asked if she wanted a particular album. She responed easily, no i just want something with ramblin' rose on it. I told her i knew the song and continued chatting and come to find out the reason she wanted the cd because her husband had passed away (bless his soul, said she) and she wanted to listen to his favorite song while thinking about him. She wasn't sad, she just stated the facts, and we found her the cd. we talked a few more minutes and she went happily away, saying that she would now think of me too whenever she listened to nat. i guess in my romantic nature, i like and find it beautiful that she can think of her husband who is gone without extreme sadness or bitterness, bitterness often seems closely tied to death. instead, she is able to remeber the time they had with joy. my written account does not capture the sweetness of this woman and even 'sweet' seems to be a word too saccharine and cliche to describe her, she was true, simple, honest, vulnerable, and loving. i liked her a lot.
